Aberfanturning is a specialist woodturning business located in the South Wales Valleys.  The company designs and produces a range of long lasting items from a variety of woods both from Wales and further afield.

The idea to produce wood turned products began as a hobby for Sean Carter, and aims to produce high quality wood cased pens and pencils in addition to other selected items.

Sean, whose home and business is in Aberfan, began his interest of working in wood by setting up a business working on wooden sailing dinghies.  His love of wood with its many textures, colours and designs further fuelled his interest in researching and developing items with a high quality finish. For many years Sean has developed his keen interest in woodturning, a skill which he has worked on and fine tuned over time, and it is this skill which has led him to develop a range of superior pens with matching boxes.

Sean has researched making pens over a long period of time.  He has developed his own technique and through continuous research has enhanced his skills to produce pens to a consistent high quality which bear the hallmarks of his passion for the product. Each pen or pencil is unique through the distinctive grain patterns of the wood selected.  It is a pen to be treasured.
